FAQ on Coronavirus

Dear MVSD families:

We are receiving lots of questions about keeping kids home for specific symptoms.

Let’s look at the most common questions:

Should my child stay home from school today?

Please keep your child home if they have:

  • Fever over 100 degrees (or feels especially warm to the touch)

  • NEW frequent, productive cough or sneeze (with lots of mucous!)

Inclement Weather

Inclement Weather Guidelines

Winter weather can mean changes to the regular operations of our district and schools. We thank you in advance for your patience during times of inclement weather.

Inclement Weather Reminders:

NEW Online Volunteer System

A New Online Volunteer Application System is now live! The Mount Vernon School District policy requires all volunteers to complete a Volunteer Application prior to volunteering in the schools.
We encourage parents and community members to volunteer by working in classrooms, through assistance with activities and by chaperoning on field trips. Field trip chaperones must complete their application at least 2 weeks prior to the trip.

100% Graduation

EVERY DAY COUNTS - In support of our 100% Graduation Goal, principals and staff across the district are creatively working with students and families to emphasize the importance of daily, on-time attendance. Celebrating and rewarding daily and weekly attendance are just a few of the many tools our schools are using to raise student awareness of the importance of consistent attendance habits.
